Affordable Care Act

In the New England Journal of Medicine they iterate how

there are 26 states in arguement at the Supreme Court

about the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, where

reform efforts are forcing them to expand their medicare and

medicaid. You can try the following link to see the four main

groupings of subject matter about the issue on the table.

Supreme Court Conflict of Ethics?

We have now come into the age where we have a president brave enough to recognize we

need a newer system of healthcare.  The Supreme Court will hold a hearing on the Obama

healthcare reform that was proposed.

To get some of the facts of the case, please visit this website and hear straight from the

White House the myths and facts to be argued.  An interesting ethical battle of our time.

Justices will be burdened with the struggle their ethics might be against the interest of the vote.

An ethical struggle between their personal and business concerns, including their role as justices

professionally, and their place in society as a whole.

Mental illness stigma as far back as Rene Descartes' views?

Today, I visited the NAMI website for more information gathering on anti-stigma issues. I chanced upon

a report from the surgeon general where it stated that the possiblility of stigma started with the philosopher

Rene Descartes' separation of mind from body.

The NAMI website ( http://www.nami.org/ ) has various tools to navigate with many choices to choose

from.

     I found the following:

               http://surgeongeneral.gov/library/mentalhealth/chapter1/sec1.html#roots_stigma

from the NAMIblog on the toolbar at http://www.nami.org/ .

One could spend many hours looking over the NAMI website, but, if you find the time, I hope

you at least check out what the surgeon general is saying about the stigma of mental illness and how we,

as individuals and as a society, play a part.

As an ongoing effort to help promote mental health awareness, I greatly recommend the following

grouping of classes:  health101, philosophy101, and sociology101  ........  in the continuing effort

to educate on the knowledge of mental health and the community to stem the stigma associated with

mental illness.  Taken together, these classes offer a comprehensive unbiased insight to better help you

explore your reason.

College is healthy and necessary

My uncle should have gone to college. In this day and age, two years of

college should be mandatory as a graduation requirement.  Teaching what is useful and

necessary in today's world all across the nation, college helps with mature conversations

and smarter career choices.

     Discussing treatment options with doctors   { www.samhsa.gov }

brings new insight into an existing condition knowing a few specifics for a more direct consultation.

The above website has numerous links (including the white house) and is very informative.

To help promote mental health awareness across the globe, I have set up this blog for various

subjects that might come up involving mental health.  Adding insight on a statewide

campaign (that began in 2006), promoting sponsorship about the stigma attached to mental illness.

Whatadifference helps friendship, strength, and professional guidance.  Entering a mental health

revolution takes everyone to get the word out that mental illness can happen to anyone, anytime.

With the medical field now coming into genomes, they are close to screening DNA for fault.

The GINA ACT (inacted in 2008) helps to protect individuals from DNA discrimination.

Hopefully, this can make a difference.
